Gateway to the Trumpington Community on the Imperial War Museum
(IWM) digital memorial ‘Lives of the First World War’. Members of the
Local History Group have researched the men and women of
Trumpington who contributed to the War and this information has been
added to the
Trumpington Community on the IWM's Lives of the First
World War database.
The first group of names below are those of the 189 men who have an entry on the ‘Roll of
Honour’ board, displayed in Trumpington Village Hall. There are links to 'IWM Lives' records
for 16
4 of these men, giving biographical (family and military) information. Unfortunately,
although family details are known for most of the remaining 25 men, we have been unable to
trace a specific military record for them. The reason may be that they did not serve overseas and
hence have no medal record or they may have shared the same name as several men in a
particular regiment and hence are unable to be specifically identified.

The second group of names are of 11
3 men and women who were not included on the Roll of
Honour but had a strong connection with Trumpington and have been identified as having served
during WWI. This group includes men and women of the Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD)
service and men of the Trumpington
Voluntary Training Corps (VTC).
